<![CDATA[Fusilier Family Farms]]>http://www.fusilierfamilyfarms.comen-ushttp://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rssCopyright 2013Fusilier Family Farms<![CDATA[Community Supported Agriculture]]>A community supported agriculture (CSA) program is a way for consumers to support local farms and regularly receive fresh, locally-grown produce. In return, the small family farms have a regular, local distribution of products at the height of the season. Because the produce doesn't travel long or far it retains more nutrients and flavor.

It also brings consumers closer to food production. It's a shared commitment. When consumers sign-up they're commiting to a season. In return, we're dedicating ourselves to being your farmer and provide a variety of nutritious produce.

Unfortunately we can't control the weather and Mother Nature will decide the growing season. Depending upon the weather each year, some products will flourish, while others will struggle and this regular challenge of agriculture will be apparent in the produce selections each week. Last year, for example, was excellent growing weather for summer squash so our customers saw lots of summer squash and zucchini in their shares. Tomatoes, however, struggled so shares didn't include as many tomatoes. 

 

Why should I join?

  1. Regularly receive high quality, fresh, healthy produce.
  2. Support local small businesses.
  3. Create a sense of social responsibility and stewardship of the land.
  4. Create an opportunity for dialogue between farmers and consumers.
  5. Support the biodiversity of a given area and the diversity of agriculture through the preservation of small farms producing a variety of crops.
  6. Puts the farmers face to food. Increased understanding of how, where and by whom your food is grown.

 

How it Works

Each members will receive a basket of fresh, premium, all natural produce each week. The season is 22 weeks from June 1 through October. Shares can be picked-up at some of the farmers markets we attend including Farmington, Ann Arbor, Manchester and Livonia.

Discover  our  new perennial greenhouse filled with 'new to the industry' to tried & true plants all in gallon or larger pots ready to fill your gardens. The Annual greenhouse is filled with fantastic hanging combo baskets to flats and pots form asters to zinnias. Browse thru the barn and pick up some homemade jams/ jellies, honey and all your gardening needs like gloves, ferterilizer and decorative pots to birdbaths.

Driving directions

25 minutes from Ann Arbor take I-94 West to exit 159 (M-52)  south 8 miles to a blinking light trun right (West) onto Pleasant Lake Rd. follow this around as it winds past Sharon Mills Park ( the road turns into Sharon Hollow rd) at stop sign take the jog left than quick right to continue south. Go thru the blinking red light and follow the asphalt for 1.5 miles and you have arrived!  Follow our signs once you get to Pleasant Lake Road - it's a beautiful drive here in Washtenaw county!

From Saline 20 minutes. take Asutin Rd west at the light on US12 just outside of town. Follow this thru Bridgewater into Manchester (sorry about the detour in  Manchester - but better improvemnents are on their way!)  follow Main st to  Austin Rd west out of town to Sharon Hollow Rd (blinking light) go south turn left onto Sharon Hollow  - follow the signs.  Juat 4 miles west of Manachester.
